Information stored on your device
SafeTube saves settings locally so the app works offline and stays under your control. This may include:
- Parent PIN (stored on-device only; never sent to our servers)
- Parent-approved YouTube channel IDs and names
- Display preferences such as dual-screen mode
- Whether you accepted the YouTube Terms of Service notice in the app
- On this website, temporary session state for the browser player
Information sent to third-party services
This app uses YouTube API Services. By using SafeTube, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. When parents approve channels or kids play videos, the app may contact:
- Google / YouTube — to look up channels for parent approval, fetch video metadata for approved channels, and play content with the official YouTube player. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Hosting providers — standard web server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and requested pages) when you visit this website.
Analytics on this website
This website uses Google Tag Manager, which may load analytics or measurement tools configured by the site owner. Those tools may collect usage information such as pages visited and general device/browser details. You can limit tracking through your browser settings and any consent tools shown on the site.
Children’s privacy
SafeTube is designed for families. Parents choose which channels are available and set a parent PIN. Kids can watch only those approved channels. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- Provide and improve the SafeTube website and mobile app
- Remember your whitelist and parent settings on your device
- Load and play YouTube videos you or your child select
- Keep the website secure and diagnose technical problems
Data retention
Settings stored on your phone, tablet, TV, or browser remain until you clear app data, uninstall the app, or clear site storage. We do not operate a central account database for SafeTube users.
Your choices
- Edit or remove approved channels anytime in Settings (parent PIN).
- Change your parent PIN in the app.
- Keep kids on approved channels only — channel approval is parent-controlled.
- Uninstall the mobile app or clear browser storage to remove local data.
Security
The parent PIN is stored locally on your device. No security measure is perfect, but we design SafeTube so routine browsing does not require sending your family’s viewing choices to our own servers.
International users
SafeTube may be used from different countries. YouTube and our hosting providers may process data in locations outside your home country under their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when our products or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the newest version. Continued use of SafeTube after changes means you accept the updated policy.
